DoorDash to Face Claims It Steers Users With False Landing Pages

DoorDash Inc. lost its bid to dodge false advertising and unfair competition claims in a San Francisco federal court over its alleged scheme to divert online food delivery customers from restaurants that don’t partner with it to those that do through misleading “landing pages.”

“This behavior is particularly troubling in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic,” when many restaurants “are struggling to stay open,” Magistrate Judge Thomas S. Hixson wrote. “DoorDash is engaged in predatory, deceptive, and anti-competitive behavior that takes unfair advantage of their market position.”
