DOJ Urges Rail Regulator to Reject CP Rail-Kansas City Tie-Up

The US Department of Justice sent a letter to the Surface Transportation Board to reiterate its opposition to Canadian Pacific Railway acquiring Kansas City Southern.

• DOJ says in letter dated Tuesday it’s correcting “inaccurate statements” made by the merger applicants
• “Applicants argued that the Board should infer that the Antitrust Division does not believe the transaction has the potential to cause harm. No such inference should be drawn,” letter says
