Deutsche Telekom Beats Estimates as German Competition Rises (1)

Deutsche Telekom AG’s first quarter profit topped estimates, demonstrating the resilience of the carrier’s mobile business in its home market of Germany even as competition cut into its broadband subscribers.

Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization after leases in January to March rose 7.9% to €11.3 billion ($12.7 billion), Europe’s largest phone carrier said in a statement on Thursday. That compares to the €11.16 billion analysts estimated on average.
