Daimler-Truck Holding Loses Top Court Case Over Price Cartel (1)

Daimler-Truck Holding AG suffered a setback at Germany’s top civil court as judges ruled that its civil liability for fixing the prices of trucks also extents to vehicles that were leased or acquired via rent-and-buy contracts.

The tribunal rejected an appeal filed by Daimler, the court said in a statement on Tuesday. A lower court must now determine the amount of damages owed. The suit seeks compensation over a cartel that led to European Commission fines over antitrust violations that took place from 1997 to 2011.
