Credit Karma in Talks to Sell Tax-Preparation Ops to Square: DJ

Credit Karma Inc. seeks to sell its tax-preparation business to Square Inc., in an effort to prevent any potential antitrust objections arising out of its sale to Intuit Inc., Dow Jones reported on Friday, citing unidentified people familiar with the matter.

  • Potential sale of the tax-preparation business would need Department of Justice approval, the publication said, citing the unidentified people.
    • The department is concerned that its tie-up with TurboTax-maker Intuit would leave individuals with fewer options, it added.
