D.C. Circuit judges quizzed the US Postal Service over how it accounts for the cost of delivering packages and priority mail during peak season in December, as the federal agency faces fresh accusations from rivals including United Parcel Service Inc.

Judges Bradley Garcia and Sri Srinivasan of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit on Tuesday probed the Postal Regulatory Commission for more clarity on the methodologies used for measuring its peak season costs. The regulatory commission oversees the Postal Service.
