Chess.com LLC has convinced a federal judge to dismiss antitrust claims brought against it by world champion chess player Hans Niemann, who alleged that the online chess platform and a rival falsely accused him of cheating.
Judge Audrey G. Fleissig of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri on Tuesday granted Chess.com’s motion to dismiss for failure to state a claim and dismissed all antitrust claims against Chess.com with prejudice. Niemann’s defamation and state law claims also had no jurisdiction, she noted in her decision.
