Chesapeake Energy, Other Oil Firms Confront New Antitrust Claims

Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Energy Corp. and other energy companies are confronting a new antitrust suit alleging they conspired to raise the price of crude oil and gas in the US, the second of two similar cases taking aim at the oil industry this month.

Plaintiffs Andrew Caplen Installations LLC, a Pennsylvania-based installation firm, and Edward Allegretti of New York-based vehicle maintenance business Alfred Auto Center, alleged in a proposed class action Monday that Chesapeake, Continental Resources Inc., and other defendants engaged in a conspiracy in violation of Section 1 of the Sherman Act, which prohibits agreements in restraint of trade. ...
