CF Buys Louisiana Ammonia Plant to Boost Carbon Capture Plan (1)

The world’s biggest manufacturer of nitrogen fertilizer agreed to buy an ammonia plant near New Orleans for $1.68 billion as part of a goal to make less-polluting farm chemicals.

CF Industries Holdings Inc. said the purchase of the Waggaman facility from Australia’s Incitec Pivot Ltd. is attractive because of the plant’s carbon capture and sequestration potential and also a good fit given its proximity and pipeline connection to a nearby CF facility.
