Celcom, Digi Asked to Address Malaysia Merger Competition Issues

The Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission has asked mobile carriers Celcom Axiata Bhd. and Digi Telecommunications Sdn. to “collectively address preliminary competition concerns” in their proposed merger, according to stock exchange filings from the companies.

The authority issued statements to both companies on Friday, setting out its preliminary view on possible competition effects, according to the filings.
