Cargill Reaches $32.5 Million Deal in Turkey Price-Fixing Suit

Cargill Inc. has agreed to a $32.5 million settlement with direct purchaser plaintiffs in an antitrust lawsuit accusing the agricultural conglomerate of conspiring with other poultry suppliers to inflate turkey prices.

The plaintiffs and Cargill filed a notice Wednesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois with the proposed settlement, calling the deal fair and the result of arm’s length negotiations.

The case is among a flurry of antitrust cases accusing food producers and suppliers of fixing the price of chicken, beef, tuna and eggs.
