Capacitor Price-Fixing Deal Worth $232 Million Gets Final Nod

Electronics resellers alleging a long-running scheme to fix capacitor prices by top manufacturers like Panasonic and Hitachi got final approval for a $232 million settlement resolving most of the case from a federal judge in San Francisco.

Five months after giving the deal a tentative nod, Judge James Donato gave his blessing to the “direct purchaser” agreement, which calls for five eight-figure payments, three smaller ones, and a pledge by Panasonic to cooperate against the remaining defendants.
