Brazilian Prosecutors Prepare Antitrust Charges Against Builders

Prosecutors investigating the largest corruption scandal in Brazil’s history are preparing to charge construction companies with colluding to win contracts with state-owned oil company Petroleo Brasileiro SA.

Some of Brazil’s biggest contractors, which also are being investigated for bribery and money laundering, will face charges of forming a cartel to manipulate bidding for Petrobras work, Carlos Lima, a prosecutor in the case, said. He declined to name companies. To date, only individuals, not companies, have been charged in the case dubbed Carwash.
