Brazil antitrust regulator decided to fine and remove Alstom SA from taking part in govt auctions for 5 years for it’s leading part in a cartel in subway works in the country.
- The regulator, known as Cade, also set a fine of 128m reais ($34 million) to the company
- The Brazilian unit of Bombardier Transportation was fined 22m reais for taking part in the alleged cartel; the Brazilian unit of Construcciones Y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles SA was fined 167m reais
- In defenses presented to Cade, the companies denied any wrongdoing
