Brazil Politics: Lula Wants to Talk Trade, Minerals With Trump

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is likely to discuss US tariffs on Brazil, organized crime and critical minerals in a meeting with Donald Trump that is expected to take place Thursday, CNN Brasil reported.

The White House has yet to confirm the meeting.

Brazil was among the biggest winners when the US Supreme Court struck down Trump’s global country-by-country tariff in February. But there are concerns that the US could reimpose levies on Brazil through the so-called Section 301 process in which it is investigating alleged unfair trade practices by the South American nation, according to the report.
