Biden’s Republican Nominees to FTC Clinch Senate Confirmation

The US Senate voted to confirm President Joe Biden’s Republican nominees to the bipartisan Federal Trade Commission, filling two empty seats on the antitrust agency’s five-member commission.

The Senate’s en bloc confirmation Thursday of Virginia Solicitor General Andrew Ferguson (R) and Utah Solicitor General Melissa Holyoak (R), nominated by Biden last July, resolves vacancy issues that left the antitrust agency open to criticism of partisanship. The FTC has lacked a Republican voice since its last Republican commissioner resigned nearly a year ago.
