Berlitz, CLCI Admit Antitrust Violation, Justice Dept Says

Berlitz Languages and Comprehensive Language Center Inc. admitted to participating in a conspiracy to obstruct competitive bidding for a National Security Agency language-training contract, the U.S. Justice Dept says in statement.

  • The conspiracy took place in 2017
  • Berlitz agreed to pay a $147k criminal penalty and CLCI agreed to pay a $140k criminal penalties, and both companies agreed they were jointly and severally liable to pay $56,984 in victim compensation to the NSA
  • NOTE: Berlitz is a subsidiary of Benesse Holdings
