Avangrid and Eversource Hit With Rival’s Monopoly Suit (2)

Avangrid Inc. and Eversource Energy, two of the largest energy companies in New England, are accused of monopolizing the wholesale electricity market in six states, according to a complaint filed Aug. 10 by a rival.

PNE Energy Supply LLC filed an antitrust class action in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts alleging that Avangrid and Eversource artificially restricted supply in the “secondary capacity” market for energy, which is the short-term market for pipeline space to transport natural gas.
