Attorneys Net $185 Million in Auto Vendor Antitrust Litigation

A federal judge awarded roughly $185 million in fees to attorneys representing plaintiffs in an antitrust case against CDK Global Inc., saying the amount is aligned with market rates and fair to class members.

Class counsel had asked for $205.7 million in fees. Judge James D. Peterson of the US District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin said in a Sept. 5 order that $185 million is appropriate given it represents 30% of a court-approved $630 million settlement between CDK and a certified class of automotive technology vendors, after expenses and a service award are subtracted.
