Apple Scores Early Win Against Antitrust Lawsuit by Currency App

Apple Inc. tentatively escaped antitrust litigation brought by the founder of Konverti, a peer-to-peer currency exchange platform booted from its App Store, when a federal judge in San Francisco ruled that the app showed at most harm to itself, not to the wider competitive landscape.

Judge Edward M. Chen dismissed the case without prejudice, saying Konverti developer Thomas M. Reilly failed to offer a plausible definition of the markets allegedly warped by the rules and policies covering Apple’s software distribution platform for iPhones and other electronic devices.
