A business making ornamental jewelry plausibly stated antitrust counterclaims in a patent, trademark and copyright suit about copied designs for cheap baubles, an Arizona federal court held on Aug. 7 (Origami Owl LLC v. Mayo, 2015 BL 254734, D. Ariz., 2:15-cv-00110-DGC, 8/7/15).
Origami Owl LLC makes inexpensive jewelry, sold through the Internet and also a sales force of independent “designers.” Origami Owl sued West Coast Charms LLC (WCC) and its two owners alleging they infringed Origami Owl’s intellectual property in some of the jewelry WCC sells.
