Amazon Marketplace Seller Gets 18 Months, Fines for Price Fixing

An Amazon.com Inc. Marketplace merchant who fixed the prices of DVDs and Blu-Ray Discs, along with three of his companies, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines.

The US District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee handed down the sentences Wednesday against Victor Btesh, of New York, and three companies he owned: Michelle’s DVD Funhouse, MJR Prime, and Prime Brooklyn, the Justice Department said. Btesh, along with four co-conspirators and another company previously sentenced, pleaded guilty to price-fixing charges brought by the DOJ’s antitrust division in early 2022.
