Amazon, FTC Set for June 2025 Trial in Prime Enrollment Suit

Amazon is scheduled for a trial in June 2025 over claims by the Federal Trade Commission that the e-commerce giant manipulates consumers into enrolling in the company’s Prime membership program.

Judge John H. Chun of the US District Court for the Western District of Washington in a brief order Tuesday said the non-jury trial will begin June 9, 2025, setting the stage for US enforcers and Amazon to spar over allegations that the company failed to clearly disclose terms of paid Prime subscriptions and didn’t obtain consumers’ informed consent before enrolling them in the program.
