Amazon-FTC Case Gets New Judge After First One Recuses Himself

The federal judge assigned the Federal Trade Commission’s historic antitrust lawsuit against Amazon.com Inc. recused himself, handing the case over to newer Judge John Chun.

In an order Wednesday, Judge John Coughenour, appointed by former President Ronald Reagan, said he was recusing himself from the hotly anticipated lawsuit. He didn’t say why.

Judge John Chun, who was appointed to the bench in April 2022 by President Joe Biden, will oversee the case, according to the docket in the US District Court for the Western District of Washington. He spent several years as a judge in state county and appeals courts ...
