ADM Beats Ethanol Monopoly Claims as 7th Cir. Affirms Dismissal

Archer-Daniels-Midland Co. on Friday was cleared of claims it manipulated the indexes used to set ethanol prices after the Seventh Circuit upheld a lower court’s dismissal of the case.

The ruling puts to rest claims brought in 2020 by United Wisconsin Grain Producers LLC and other ethanol sellers against ADM. They alleged the company’s anticompetitive conduct forced them to charge lower prices in their ethanol sales contracts.

ADM, one of the largest producers of ethanol in the US, was accused of monopolizing the domestic market for ethanol, which is produced from corn and sold as a renewable fuel and additive. ...
