Adelson Says Vegas Newspaper Antitrust Suit a Hypocritical Stunt

Billionaire casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, a newspaper owner known as a GOP fundraiser and kingmaker, fired back at claims in Las Vegas federal court that he’s trying to silence his critics by driving a competing paper out of business.

“The Sun has filled its complaint with ad hominem attacks and gratuitous references to defendants’ conservative views in the apparent hope this court will rule on politics, not the merits,” Adelson says in his dismissal motion.

The antitrust lawsuit calls Adelson “a long-time enemy of the First Amendment and the press.” It also targets his newspaper, the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The ...
