Out of the mouths of babes and self-serving Trump administration officials comes the occasional truth. A State Department report this week says the human-rights situation in the UK has “worsened” over the past year, pointing to restrictions on freedom of expression and threats of violence motivated by antisemitism.

In a clear dig at the UK’s new Online Safety Act, State Department spokesman Tammy Bruce condemned legislation that “disfavored voices on political or religious grounds.” Trump officials have also criticized the prison sentence handed down to Lucy Connolly, a Tory counselor’s wife, for posting racially inflammatory tweets during riots in Southport ...
