New Jersey added five years to its tax credit for film, television, and digital media production, extending a program that brought location shooting to the Garden State for “Joker,” “West Side Story,” and other major motion pictures.
Gov. Phil Murphy (D) signed legislation (A5580/S3842) Tuesday to extend the program through July 2028, following his 2018 restoration of a program that his Republican predecessor, Chris Christie, had allowed to lapse. The new law also raises the annual cap on credits for qualified film production expenses by $25 million, to $100 million.
