Chile’s draft tax reform bill will focus on strengthening the tax authority and boosting control powers, the Finance Minister said Thursday.
“Compared to the previous tax reform bill, we’re putting a much greater emphasis on tax control and strengthening institutions responsible for collection,” Finance Minister Mario Marcel said in a news release.
The government’s previous tax reform bill had envisioned a dramatic overhaul of taxation and spending to finance social programs but was rejected by Congress earlier this year.
