Submissions Open for Bloomberg Law’s Leading Law Firms

Jan. 7, 2026, 11:19 AM UTC

Submissions are now open for Bloomberg Law’s Leading Law Firms ranking.

Leading Law Firms began with a simple question: What makes a best-in-class law firm? Is it money? Is it headcount? Is it the same thing that propelled law firms to the top decades ago? And what will a best-in-class law firm look like a decade from now, given the entirely new set of norms—political and otherwise—the legal market is facing?

In last year’s inaugural list, we began with four pillars: financial strength, talent, growth, and innovation. Law firms of all sizes were given an overall Leading Law Firms rank and then also ranked in each of the four pillars. (See how the numbers shook out here.) This year, we’re keeping the same pillars while updating some of the survey questions to keep pace with the industry.

Central to Leading Law Firms is the idea that what a successful firm looks like today is very different than what a successful firm looked like 25 years ago. Capturing more than revenue and headcount lets us get closer to our definition of a successful firm. And as the legal world continues to change, we expect the metrics that measure winners in law will continue to change as well.

Additional details about the program are below. Request your firm’s link to participate in this year’s ranking here.

About this Program

Leading Law Firms is a ranking of law firms based on information including revenue, headcount, growth, and innovation. Bloomberg Law developed this program to recognize excellence and growth across a variety of success metrics including, but not limited to, revenue and headcount.

Criteria to Apply

Any law firm can submit data for potential inclusion in the Leading Law Firms ranking.

Data Collection Requirements

Data for submissions includes revenue and headcount, along with a variety of growth and innovation metrics. A PDF of the entire questionnaire is available on the first page of the online data collection instrument.

Firms are encouraged to answer every question on the data collection instrument but have discretion to decide the number of questions it chooses to answer and the data it chooses to disclose.

Deadline

All data must be submitted by Friday, March 13, 2026.

How Do We Submit Data?

Please request an invitation to upload your firm’s data here.
