Port of LA Ends Summer Just Shy of Record With Trade Set to Slow

Container volumes last month at the busiest US seaport held near an all-time record set in July as US businesses navigate changing tariffs and uncertainties from President Donald Trump’s trade war.

“We’ve already seen the peak of the peak,” Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka told reporters at a press conference on Wednesday. “I expect container volume to ease through the rest of the year, especially against last year’s unusually high comps.”

Seroka said the Port of LA is likely to see about 850,000 containers in September, about 10% less than the same month last year.
