Eritrea Hails Potential Sanctions Relief as US Eyes Red Sea

Eritrea welcomed reports that the US may lift sanctions on the strategically located Red Sea nation, saying such a move would rectify years of “misguided policies.”

President Donald Trump’s administration is considering resetting ties with the reclusive, autocratic state, whose Red Sea coastline gives it strategic importance as Washington seeks to counter threats to maritime routes, including from the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, the Wall Street Journal reported last month.
