Egg Supplier Vital Pays Farmers $200,000 Bonuses in Growth Push

The top US brand of pasture-raised eggs is throwing money at farmers to secure supply of the protein-rich staple as competition tightens and tariffs threaten to drive up costs.

In its biggest expansion yet, Vital Farms Inc. has signed contracts with an additional 200 farms since the end of 2023, bringing its total network to 500, the Austin-based supplier said Thursday in a statement. The push includes bonuses of $200,000 per farm to cover rising construction costs and secure loans, according to Chief Executive Officer Russell Diez-Canseco.
