State Anti-ESG Laws Haven’t Deterred Some Investors, Report Says

Anti-ESG state laws have not dissuaded investment managers who’ve publicly committed to considering such factors, though the new requirements bring extra paperwork and compliance questions, according to a report released Wednesday by an investor network.

The findings from Principles for Responsible Investment, which encourages incorporating environmental, social, and governance factors into investment decisions, are based on interviews with more than a dozen of its signatories. Asset owners, investment managers, and service providers sign in support of considering ESG issues in their practices as factors that can impact investment portfolio performance.
