Hospitals in New York must develop a workplace violence prevention plan and train their employees on safety procedures under legislation Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) signed into law.
The measure (S5294B) now requires all general hospitals to conduct an annual security assessment and develop a plan that addresses and identifies violence threats within a year.
The law adds to a growing list of states pushing to enact legislation or expand existing regulations that protect workers where the federal government does not amid the Trump administration’s deregulation goals.
