A Louisiana hospice owner’s convictions for healthcare fraud and conspiracy were affirmed by a federal appeals court Friday.
The US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit held “a rational trier of fact could find the evidence presented at trial sufficient to sustain all four of her convictions” in upholding the district court’s decision to deny a judgment of acquittal on four counts of Medicare fraud.
Angel Care Hospice founder Kristal Glover-Wing was convicted of submitting false hospice care claims. Glover-Wing conspired with physicians to certify ineligible patients for hospice care and fraudulently obtained around $1.5 million in Medicare reimbursements. ...
