Hochul Crusade Against Gaming Platforms Threatens Big Tech

Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) has once again turned to taking on Big Tech, listing the sector at the forefront of her fight for New York families as she enters an election year.

Hochul’s $260 billion budget released Jan. 20 includes language requiring platforms such as Roblox and Discord to implement strict age-verification methods and strengthen parental control over which users engage with accounts operated by children. The text would also allow parents to limit financial transactions on such sites and implement default privacy measures on minor accounts
