The EPA on Wednesday said it was making $80 million available in stormwater grant funding for small or financially struggling communities.
The funds, issued under the Environmental Protection Agency’s Sewer Overflow and Stormwater Reuse Municipal Grant program, are aimed at safely capturing and managing stormwater to stop contaminants, including untreated sewage, from polluting waterways.
Virginia will get the largest share with $4.1 million, followed by California with $3.8 million and Florida with $2.4 million. The states will then award funds to communities within their borders.
