Former New York-based employees of Emirates Airline advanced their proposed class action saying the airline targeted American workers for layoffs during the Covid-19 pandemic and illegally failed to give them severance or advanced notice of their termination.
A Manhattan federal judge allowed the workers to move forward with claims under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, federal and state discrimination laws, and a New York labor law requiring advance notice of mass layoffs.
