Washington is allowing licensed liquor establishments to hire individuals ages 18 to 20 as kitchen staff, under a bill that will go into effect on July 22.
Individuals ages 18 to 20 may work as dishwashers, cooks, chefs, and sanitation specialists, under HB 1730. They may not work in bar, lounge, or dining areas, nor may they interact with or serve food or drinks to patrons. They must also not possess or consume alcohol on the premises at any time.
