North Dakota’s 2021 withholding methods were released Dec. 11 by the state tax commissioner’s office.
Like in 2020, the state provides two withholding formulas, one for use with federal Forms W-4 from before 2020 and one for use with federal Forms W-4 from 2020 or later. The value of a withholding allowance used in the pre-2020 formula remained $4,300 annually, unchanged from 2020, but the tax brackets used in both formulas were adjusted.
The supplemental withholding rate is 1.84%, unchanged from 2020, the office said.
