California’s unemployment-taxable wage base is to be $7,000 for 2020, unchanged from 2019, a spokeswoman for the state Employment Development Department said Oct. 21.
Effective for 2020, as in 2019, unemployment tax rates for experienced employers are to be determined with Schedule F+, the spokeswoman told Bloomberg Tax in an email. Tax rates for experienced employers are to range from 1.5% to 6.2%, and the tax rate for new employers is to be 3.4%.
Additionally, positive-rated employers and new employers are to be assessed an employment training tax of 0.1% for 2020, unchanged from 2019.
