Washington University in St. Louis’ medical school defeated a researcher’s attempt to pursue wage-and-hour allegations on behalf of other workers but must face her individual overtime claim.
The former researcher, who said she quit WashU Medical’s post-college program due to long hours without overtime pay, sufficiently alleged an individual wage claim, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri said. But she didn’t properly plead that other researchers who worked similar schedules also went without pay for their extra hours, dooming the collective portion of her suit, the Wednesday opinion said.
