UK Issues ESG Reporting Rules, Asks If They Should Be Mandatory

The UK has published national environmental, social, and governance reporting standards for voluntary use and is considering making them mandatory for many listed companies next year.

The two UK Sustainability Reporting Standards released Wednesday cover climate and general sustainability reporting on issues such as governance. They are closely based on those published by the International Sustainability Standards Board in 2023. UK markets watchdog the Financial Conduct Authority is consulting over whether to require them for listed companies.
