Texas Lawmakers Prepare Sweeping AI Bill for August Unveiling

Texas lawmakers plan in August to unveil sweeping legislation ahead of the 2025 session that would have the Lone Star State join a growing list of states confronting potential threats from the use of artificial intelligence in the absence of congressional action.

State Rep. Giovanni Capriglione (R), a top legislator on the issue, said his colleagues want to pass legislation next year addressing AI use by both the private and public sectors. They plan to refine legislation in the final months of the year before formally introducing it.
