The US Securities and Exchange Commission announced the appointment of Erica Williams to a second term as chairperson of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board for a five-year term beginning on Oct. 25, the SEC said Tuesday.
The PCAOB, created by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, oversees the audits of public companies and registered broker-dealers through registration, standard-setting, inspection, and disciplinary programs, according to the SEC.
