Panama Minister Sees Copper-Mine Audit to Begin in Coming Weeks

Authorities in Panama have chosen a company to undertake an environmental audit of First Quantum’s shuttered copper mine, Commerce Minister Julio Moltó told TV channel Telemetro.

• Work on the audit hopefully will begin within a month, once the contract has been officially awarded, the minister said
• The audit would take 4-5 months at most, “so before the end of the year we should already have basic and important information to move forward with decision-making,” he said
