Missouri Hospital Loses Bid to Avoid $12 Million Tax Valuation

A Missouri hospital lost its bid to be exempted from property taxes based on a valuation of about $11.7 million because it requested relief solely on one theory and appealed its loss solely on another, the state tax commission announced Wednesday.

Saint Luke’s North Hospital initially challenged the valuation of its clinic at the Clay County Board of Equalization, which declined to lower its valuation to about $6.5 million, as it initially requested. It then appealed to the Missouri State Tax Commission, seeking a total tax exemption.
