Greece Extends Allowable Overtime Hours Per Day

Amendments to Greece’s labor code that generally took effect the day of their Oct. 17 publication increase the number of overtime hours an employee may work in a day from three to four among other changes to provisions on hours of work and leave.

The amendments in Law No. 5259/2025 (Greek) do not change the maximum 150 hours of overtime that employees may work in a year, that employees are entitled to pay of 40% above their normal wages for overtime hours, or that employees can refuse to work overtime without retaliation.
