French Audit Firms Searched by Competition Watchdog (1)

France’s Competition Authority searched several companies in the audit industry amid evidence of anti-competitive behavior.

The watchdog “carried out unannounced inspections on 13 January, at the premises of companies suspected of having implemented anti-competitive practices in the sector for the audit and certification of financial and non-financial data and reports,” it said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Such inspections do not prejudge the guilt of the companies concerned by the alleged practices, which can only be established following an investigation on the merits,” it said, without identifying the affected firms.
